The Numbers That Matter
These rules apply during the evaluation and continue on your funded account.
Your account balance cannot fall more than 5% from its value at the start of the trading day (midnight UTC). If you hit this limit, trading is locked for the rest of that day. This resets each day.
Example: Balance of £50,000 — daily loss limit is £2,500. If your account hits £47,500 intraday, no new trades can be opened that day.
Your account equity cannot fall more than 10% below your starting balance at any point. This is an absolute limit — not relative to your current balance. Breaching this ends the evaluation.
Example: Starting balance of £50,000 — your account must never fall below £45,000 in equity.
The evaluation requires an 8% profit on your starting balance. Profits are calculated from your starting virtual balance — not your peak.
Example: £50,000 account — evaluation target is £4,000 profit (balance reaches £54,000).
You must have at least 5 trading days in each phase. A trading day is a weekday (Monday to Friday) on which you complete a verified session and place at least one trade during it. Weekends do not count.
Consistency rule: No single trading day can make up more than 50% of your total profit in a phase. If it does, simply keep trading until your best day is 50% or less of your total profit — it is not a fail.
Evaluations bought before 15 October 2026 keep the rules they were bought under.
Each plan has a set time limit for each phase: Starter 30 days, Rising 45 days, Pro 60 days, Elite 90 days. Your time limit starts when each phase begins, and Phase 2 always gets a fresh window. Your exact deadline is shown on your dashboard.
Your evaluation fee is fully refunded with your first profit payout as a funded trader. You are never paying ongoing subscription fees — only one entry fee per challenge attempt.
What Ends Your Evaluation — Or Your Funded Account
Any of the following will automatically close your evaluation or funded account. If it happens during evaluation, you can restart by purchasing a new evaluation.
You may trade during any news event including NFP, CPI, central bank decisions, and earnings releases. No new positions may be opened within 5 minutes before or after a scheduled high-impact news event.
✓ Trade through news — just avoid the 5-minute window right before/after release
Positions may be held overnight and over weekends with no restriction. There are no time-based rules forcing you to close trades before market close. Be aware of weekend gap risk on volatile instruments.
✓ Hold as long as your strategy requires
- Equity falls more than 10% below starting balance (max drawdown breach)
- Daily loss exceeds 5% in a single day
- Evidence of account sharing or use of prohibited third-party signals
- Arbitrage, latency abuse, or exploit-based trading strategies
- High-frequency trading (HFT) — opening more than 10 new positions within any 60-second period. Closing positions, and stop-loss or take-profit orders being triggered, do not count
- Copy trading — mirroring positions from another account or signal service
- Fully unattended automated bots running without human oversight
- All standard spread betting instruments (indices, FX, commodities, shares)
- Automated bots and EAs — with active trader monitoring
- Swing trading and overnight positions
- News trading — with 5-minute buffer before and after events
- Hedging within your own account
How Payouts Work
You receive 50–80% of all profits generated on your virtual account. Every plan starts at the same 50% split — it increases purely based on tenure as a funded trader (65% at 3 months, 75% at 7 months, 80% at 12 months).
| Apprentice (0mo) | 50% |
| Associate (3mo) | 65% |
| Senior (7mo) | 75% |
| Elite (12mo) | 80% |
Payout requests are processed within 2-3 business days. Submit a request from your dashboard once you have at least 5 trading days since you were funded or since your last payout, and no single day makes up more than 50% of the profit you withdraw. Minimum payout is £20.
Payouts are made by bank transfer to a UK bank account. You will need to provide your account number and sort code.
Before any payout is approved, you'll connect your demo trading account to HB Funded via API (or MT4/MT5 investor password) so we can verify your balance and trading history.
UK residents using spread betting demo accounts may benefit from tax-free profits under current HMRC rules — spread betting profits are typically exempt from Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax. However, tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances. HB Funded does not provide tax advice. We recommend consulting a qualified tax adviser before trading.
